Melalui penelitian ini telah<br \/>\nberhasil dibuat SiC dari campuran serbuk kayu meranti sebagai sumber C dan serbuk Si sebagai sumber Si. Pembuatannya<br \/>\nterdiri dari dua tahap, yaitu pada tahap awal adalah proses pirolisa serbuk kayu dalam atmosfir nitrogen (N2) sampai<br \/>\ntemperatur 1025oC untuk mendapatkan residu C yang kemudian dicampurkan dengan serbuk Si. Tahap pemanasan<br \/>\nberikutnya sampai pada temperatur 1575oC dalam atmosfir inert (Ar) dimaksudkan untuk mereaksikan Si dan C menjadi<br \/>\nSiC.<br \/>\nHasil pengujian dengan X-ray Diffraction (XRD) menunjukkan pembentukan SiC sebagai fasa yang dominan.
